Bethel Shelters

The Men’s Warming Center started in the winter of 2007 as a seasonal warming center for homeless men to find a warm meal and a safe place to sleep each night. As the need for homelessness services continued to grow in the tricounty area (York, Chester, and Lancaster Counties), the Bethel Men’s Warming Center began sheltering more and more men each season. Because of this tremendous need and the commitment of Bethel, its partners, and passionate community members, in April of 2019, rather than close its doors as it does at the end of each warming season, the Bethel Men’s Warming Center remained open and officially became the Bethel Men’s Shelter, the first and only year-round emergency shelter in the tri-county area. Second Harvest Food Bank’s mission is to solicit, store, and distribute food to hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties; and to provide education and advocacy. The Society of St Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul chapter at St Hilary Church assists those in need, both inside and outside the parish community. We assist by visiting families in need, delivering groceries, and helping with bills such as rent, utilities, or car repairs. We also help with attaining employment and referrals for budgeting classes and other services, in order to help our neighbors become more self-sufficient. Learn more.

Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue

At Paws and Prayers, a dedicated force of volunteers drives our goal of saving as many animal lives as we possibly can.

Founded in 2001, Paws and Prayers blossomed from the notion that all cast-off animals deserve only the best lives as loved, indoor pets. With a higher power’s guiding hand and unending prayers, the rescuers that formed Paws and Prayers sought to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home forgotten, neglected, or otherwise left-behind pets. One of the first of its kind, Paws and Prayers rescuers formed a foster-based rescue system in which every saved pet was cared for in the loving homes of the organization’s volunteers until the perfect adoptive home is found. In its inaugural year, Paws and Prayers saved the lives of 200 dogs and cats. Paws and Prayers’ ever-growing base of volunteers and foster homes proudly saves hundreds of pets each year!
